Child Protection & Safeguarding Policy

Last reviewed: July 2026 · Next review: July 2027

Purpose

Neorons is committed to the safety and wellbeing of every child and young person who participates in our programmes. This policy applies to all Neorons events, workshops, residential camps, and online activities involving anyone under the age of 18.

Scope

This policy covers all staff, volunteers, mentors, partner personnel, and any adult who interacts with participants during Neorons programmes.

Key Principles

  • Two-adult rule: No adult is ever alone with a child. All interactions take place in view of at least one other adult.
  • Supervision ratios: General events maintain a minimum ratio of 1 adult to 10 participants. Residential programmes maintain 1:6.
  • Background verification: All volunteers and staff undergo identity verification before participating. Residential programme staff undergo enhanced background checks where available.
  • Boundaries: Adults do not exchange personal contact details with participants. Communication happens through official Neorons channels only.

Photography & Media Consent

  • Written parental or guardian consent is obtained before any child is photographed or filmed.
  • All published photographs are stripped of EXIF metadata (GPS coordinates, device information, timestamps) before publication.
  • Children are not identified by full name in published materials without explicit consent.
  • Participants and families may withdraw consent at any time by writing to neoronsai@gmail.com.

Online Safety

Where programmes include online components, sessions are supervised by at least two adults, are not recorded without consent, and use platforms with appropriate safety controls. Chat functions are moderated.

Reporting Concerns

Anyone who has a safeguarding concern about a child involved in a Neorons programme should report it immediately to our designated safeguarding lead:

Safeguarding Lead: Akshat Agarwal, Founder · neoronsai@gmail.com
All reports are treated confidentially and acted on promptly.

Review

This policy is reviewed annually and updated whenever our programme scope changes significantly. The current version was adopted in July 2026.
